The GII series of Technical Competency Certificates are intermediate level courses designed to equip you with the depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject concerned to enable you to perform senior technical functions within the insurance industry such as underwriting, claims or broking. These courses follow a theoretical as well as practical approach to the subject in hand through the study of international practice as well as practical application in the GCC region. Case studies are included during which you are taken through a hypothetical situation and learn from the lecturers’ experience. Advanced (Candidates must be able to complete a three hour written examination paper in English)
DurationEach course consists of sixty hours of classroom learning involving Lectures, and interactive sessions. Learners would need a further sixty hours of private study and further reading that will be necessary to complete the practical assignments. These assignments are marked and include instructor’s comments and advice and carry at 30% of the final examination mark. AssessmentPractical Assignment: Students must complete each module including the practical assignment handed out at the end of each unit. The practical assignments carry 30% of the overall mark of 200 Written Examination: Participants will be asked to sit for a three-hour written examination at the end of the course consisting of 8 compulsory short questions, 1 compulsory essay question and 3 essay questions from a choice of five The written examination carries 140 marks. Out of the overall mark of 200, candidates must obtain a minimum 40 marks from the practical assignments and a minimum of 110 marks overall.

Five employees from Oman insurance Company in UAE have been awarded Associate membership (AGII) following their completion of the number of credits required. The new associates are: Samir Hemsi, Victoria Chisomo Mazinga, Edith Chisomo Mbawa, Ferial Bennai, Ammar Fahim Shehadeh.
