Licentiate - Overview PDF Print E-mail

Regulators around the world are requiring minimum qualifications for appointed representatives, sales persons and all persons handling customer services or giving advice in insurance in order to raise professional standards and ethics in their market and improve customer experience.

The GII suite of Licentiate certificates are designed to meet these demands and provide a foundation in the relationship between risk and insurance, the legal principles of insurance, the market and practice, regulation and ethics.

An important and distinguishing feature about GII Licentiate certificates is that the courses are customised for the country that they are delivered in or the candidates are being prepared for. Such customisation covers the following areas:

  • Structure of the insurance market in that country including types of insurers and intermediaries

  • Practice of insurance in the country

  • Compulsory insurance requirements applicable to the country

  • Structure of the regulator and an outline of the laws and directives specific to that country

  • Reference to any data protection, anti money laundering and other legislation guarding against abuse

  • Reference to any consumer tribunals or alternative dispute resolution methods available to the insurance consumer in the country.

This makes GII licentiate certificates more relevant to the market needs at this level of candidate adding value to the learning achieved.
