By becoming a member of the Gulf Insurance Institute you demonstrate your commitment towards your educational and personal development as an insurance professional and an employee of choice and gain the recognition you deserve through our designations of Candidate, Associate and Fellow.  It will also allow you to demonstrate your commitment to the highest standards of professional integrity and conduct contained in this Members’ Charter. 

You first step towards professional insurance and risk management qualifications is by becoming a member of our institute.

Members' Charter

As a member, your relationship with GII is governed by the members’ charter which is a collective agreement between the Institute and it's fully paid up members.

This agreement gives you the right to use the knowledge services provided by the institute, to use the titles Associate (AGII) or Fellow (FGII) in your professional career and to attend and vote at a general meeting to appoint the Quality and Standards Council.

As long as you maintain your membership and comply with the Code of Conduct, the Institute will be contractually bound to provide you with the membership services in the Charter and to promote the qualifications framework as the insurance qualfications of choice in the Middle East and beyond.

Membership Services

Under the terms of the charter, the institute is bound to provide its members with the following services

• Qualification programmes in the field of insurance and related financial and risk management services

• Certification in various disciplines in the insurance and risk management industry

• Training, tuition, and e-learning to obtain certificates and qualifications. 

• Award of designatory titles on qualification to recognise achievement and career progression

• Promotion of such designatory titles as benchmarks of professional and academic achievement by the holders

• Upholding the integrity and professional excellence bestowed by such designatory titles

• Exclusive right to apply for sponsorship opportunities provided by our partner Stakeholders in Insurance Education

• Award of prior learning credits from other professional bodies on successfully completing our certificates

• Opportunities for Continued Professional Development

• Tuition and examination services for other relevant professional qualifications granted by other professional bodies or institutes

• Training needs assessment, advise, and career progression guidance

 Membership Tiers

We offer three levels of membership that reflect your progress towards professional academic achievement: Candidate, Associate and Fellow. 

We also offer Affiliate membership to those professionals qualified through other bodies and who contribute towards the Institute’s academia.

Member

This category is open to the individuals with an interest in the activities of the GII and who are not registered as a candidate for Associateship. Applications for Candidate membership are accepted by the management of the Institute.

Candidate

This category is for individuals who register for the Institute’s training programmes to become Associates or Fellows. Applications for Candidate membership are accepted by the management of the Institute. Following admission as a candidate, you can commence your studies with the institute leading to the qualifications. You are bound to pay the annual membership fee and to comply with the Code of Professional Conduct of the institute.

Associate

Candidate members shall be eligible for election as Associates upon:

• attainment of the relevant level of qualification through GII certification programmes or a combination of GII Certification and prior learning credits

• having at least one year practical experience in the insurance industry in insurance or related financial and risk management services sector in the Middle East and North Africa.

• Confirmation by the Qualifications and Standards Council in accordance with “Fit and Proper” criteria established by

Associates shall be entitled to use the designation Associate of the Gulf Insurance Institute (AGII).

Fellow

An Associate shall be eligible for the designation of Fellow upon:

• Proven attainment of the relevant level of qualification through GII certification programmes or a combination of GII Certification and prior learning credits

• having at least three years practical experience in the insurance industry in insurance or related financial and risk management services sector in the Middle East and North Africa,

• Confirmation by the Qualifications and Standards Council in accordance with “Fit and Proper” criteria established by it.

Fellows shall be entitled to use the designation Fellow of the Gulf insurance Institute (FGII).
  

Affiliate

This category is open to the individuals with an interest in the activities of the GII and who do not intend to pursue qualifications from GII.  Applications for Affiliateship are accepted by the management of the Institute upproviding proof of qualifications in insurance or related financial and risk management services obtained through study and examination from a university, college or professional institute as determined by the Qualifications and Standards Council,

Designatory Titles

Only Associates and Fellows are entitled to use the designatory titles AGII and FGII respectively.

We promote these designations across the region as benchmarks of professional and academic achievement by the holders.By displaying these designations you would be demonstrating your commitment to your profession to your present and prospective employers, your peers and your customers.
